Inaugural photo competition winners announced!

Tuesday, May 7, 2019

In the lead up to the 2019 Passionate about Practice Symposium, our Office of the Chief Nursing and Midwifery Officer ran a photo competition, designed to showcase the broad scope of the nursing and midwifery professions, and to celebrate the contribution they make each and every day in helping Queenslanders to be healthier!

Thank you to everyone who entered and voted. We received 26 eligible entries with the winners determined by the number of likes on Facebook. There was a hive of activity during the two week voting period, with almost 2,000 votes received and dozens of shares and comments. The winners were announced at the Passionate about Practice Symposium this afternoon. While not all winners were present at today’s event, they’ll receive a framed copy of their winning photo soon.

Highly Commended

Townsville Hospital and Health Service has received a highly commended award for their ‘Nurse Endoscopists’ photo featuring Grace and Kylie (photo by Ian Hitchcock). While this photo didn’t take out the Innovation category, it deserves a special mention for scoring the fourth highest number of likes out of all the photos. Meaghan, who submitted the photo, said “Nurse Endoscopists in Townsville are the national leaders in administering conscious sedation while concurrently performing endoscopies. This innovation enables holistic case management of patients.” Well done team!
