The Care Support Officer provides one-on-one care for patients that suffer from diminished capability. These officers provide therapeutic interaction by improving the patient experience with daily activities designed to support challenge and enhance the psychological, emotional, physical, social and cultural wellbeing of individuals.
Further expansion of this service is currently underway into the Emergency Department at the Mackay Base Hospital, assisting patients facing lengthy wait times and to appropriately manage patients who are intoxicated or very aggressive when they present for treatment.
