Meeting dates: 17-18 March 2016
Globally, healthcare systems are struggling with rising costs, increasing demand for services, inequitable access and variations in the safety and quality of services. To ensure a sustainable healthcare system, it is acknowledged that clinicians and consumers must question existing models of care to ensure there is real benefit to the patient for the investment of resources.
On 17-18 March 2016 the Queensland Clinical Senate and key stakeholders from across the system met to discuss the importance of value-based healthcare.
As clinicians we must strive for a system that identifies what a quality outcome is for our patients, both at the individual and community level, and ensure that this is front and centre in all healthcare delivery. The Queensland Clinical Senate challenges clinicians and healthcare executives to find opportunities to move resources away from low-value to high-value models of care.
